Activity Holidays Pyrenees House

By December 8, 2017

The Ariege region of France is a paradise for those who enjoy being active in the great outdoors. There are a wide range of activities to be enjoyed all year round thanks to the availability of over 5000km of marked paths and trails, 10 ski stations and the 2500km of water courses. It really is the perfect place to come for an activity holiday in France.

Today’s blog will focus on some of the activities that are available near Pyrenees House in the spring and summer months. One of the most exciting has to be canyoning, which involves a bit of abseiling and jumping into pools of water in the most spectacular surroundings http://canyoning-ariege.com/ .

Continuing with a water theme, the kayaking, rafting and canoeing is not to be missed. Of the 2500km of water courses, around 400km have been classified as accessible to white water sports. All ability levels are catered for and the scenery is spectacular http://foixeauvive.com/ .

It would be hard to talk about an activity holiday in France without mentioning cycling. Ariege often hosts a stage of the Tour De France which makes the location of Pyrenees House perfect for an activity holiday  https://www.pyrenees-house.com/activityholidays/ . Stage 13 (2017) was a beautiful ride between the two picturesque Ariege towns of St Girons and Foix.  For those who prefer a flatter route, a disused railway line between the two towns has been converted into a beautiful cycle path 42km long which can be enjoyed at your leisure. https://www.tourisme-stgirons-stlizier.fr/fr/activites-plein-air-ariege-pyrenees/cyclotourisme/voie-verte-st-girons-foix

The greenway cycle route (above) finishes near the beautiful town of Foix (left).

Other spring/summer activities that are sure to make a good activity holiday in Ariege are horseriding, zip lining in one of the adventure parks, rock climbing, caving and hiking. Whatever your interests are, you will find it in the beautiful but undiscovered Ariege region of France.
